Copyright Policy
How Promptly handles copyright concerns and infringement reports.
Last updated: September 5, 2026
1. Introduction
This Copyright Policy explains how Promptly handles copyright concerns involving content available through our platform and how copyright owners can report suspected infringement.
Copyright laws protect original creative works, which may include text, illustrations, images, code, and other forms of creative expression. We are committed to respecting intellectual property rights and ask that our users do the same.
2. Copyright Ownership
There are distinct categories of content on Promptly, and copyright ownership varies accordingly:
- User-Created Content: Users who submit original prompts or descriptions generally retain any copyright ownership they hold in that content, subject to the licenses granted to the platform in our Terms of Service.
- Platform Content: The design, codebase, branding, and aggregated databases of the website are owned by Promptly.
- Third-Party Content: Certain linked resources or assets may be owned by third-party creators or organizations.
Uploading a resource to our platform does not automatically transfer your copyright to Promptly. However, a resource being publicly visible on our platform does not mean it is in the public domain or free to commercially exploit without permission.
3. User Responsibilities
Users who submit or publish content to the platform are strictly responsible for ensuring they have the necessary legal rights or permissions to do so.
You must not upload or publish content that infringes another person's copyright. Examples of infringement may include:
- Directly copying another creator's extensive prompt framework without permission.
- Uploading copyrighted images or reference artwork without authorization.
- Republishing another user's work while claiming it as your own original creation.
4. Prompts & AI-Generated Content
The Complexity of AI Copyright
Copyright protection for AI prompts and AI-generated outputs is legally complex and highly dependent on jurisdiction, the degree of human authorship, and originality.
Because Promptly deals heavily in text prompts designed for AI systems:
- We do not guarantee that any specific prompt published on the platform is inherently protected by copyright. Short, generic, or highly functional phrases typically lack copyright protection.
- Users should not assume that all AI-generated outputs created using prompts found on our platform are fully protected by copyright.
- Third-party AI services (e.g., image generators or language models) have their own Terms of Service that dictate the commercial usage and ownership of outputs generated through their systems.
5. Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement and is accessible on our platform, you may notify us.
Where applicable, a valid copyright infringement report should include the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material, including sufficient details (such as the specific URL) to allow us to locate it.
- Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email address).
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
6. Review, Removal, & Counter-Notices
Upon receiving a proper infringement notification, we may review the report, request additional information, or temporarily hide/remove the disputed content.
If we remove content based on an infringement report, we will make a good-faith effort to notify the user who uploaded the content. If that user believes their content was removed by mistake or misidentification, they may contact us to dispute the removal (a counter-notice), outlining why they possess the rights to publish the material.
Please note that knowingly submitting false or misleading copyright reports or counter-notices can result in liability for damages and termination of your account.
7. Repeat Infringement
In accordance with our Terms of Service, we maintain a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are deemed to be repeat copyright infringers.
8. Platform Intellectual Property
Promptly owns or licenses the software, website design, user interface, original graphics, and aggregated database structure that powers the platform.
You may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit these platform-owned materials without our express prior written permission.
